Been following thru with the C25K. Up to week 4 day 2 tonight. TOTALLY suprised myself by being able to run the 5 minute/3 minute runs Wednesday. I need to up my speed a little, barely called a jog at the speed I'm going. If I up it 1/10 every week or so should be a little quicker.
Since I registered my 17 yo daughter for the 5K in April with me, she decided she should start the C25K too. Brat started off the week I am and is already running faster than me. That's ok, one day she will be old too.
I'm ready for spring so I can try out my outside legs, see how they compare to the treadmill. Not gonna happen this weekend, cold front coming thru and I'm not a cold weather person....
My 2012 Restart
I created this blog to try to increase my chances of following thru this time....

I will do this...
So, Saturday I got up and walked/jogged for a mile. Tonight after cooking supper, did the walk/run thing again. Ran (slowly) about 8 minutes all together of the 25 to 30 minutes I was on the treadmill. I obviously need to put a log (piece of paper) by the treadmill so I can remember exactly how long/ far I am exercising.
I need to register for a 5Ksoon. (will I do it myself, or will one of the kids do it with me....)
Again, I WILL do this!!!

So far, NOT so good :(
Nine days into the month and other than trying to watch what I'm eating, I'm not doing anymore exercising except one day. I need to make myself do it as soon as I get home from work, otherwise after supper is made and I'm sitting on the couch, it's not going to get done.
I need MOTIVATION and i have none :(
Was looking online for a 5K to register for to give myself something to work towards. There are a few in April. I will try to exercise again tonight. But at least I'm maintaining and not gaining at this point. It was sooo much easier to lose weight even 5 years ago. Getting old is hell.

In the beginning...
I decided over a year ago to get healthier and train for a half marathon. Got a little side tracked with what started as a catch in my knee, progressed to arthroscopic surgery to remove a bone chip.
This simple surgery ended with the Doctor telling me afterwards that the back of my knee cap was in much worse shape than he thought. He scraped the loose bone chips and drilled some holes to help it heal... yea, i know :o
8 days later (day before Christmas eve) I felt like I had pneumonia, pain in my side when breathing. After trying to sleep thru the pain, I conceded and off to the ER we went, because everyone wants to spend their Christmas vacation in the ER. They sent me home 7 hours later telling me I had pneumonia. FINALLY able to sleep, after being awake for 25 hours, off to bed I went. Only to be woken 3 hours later with a call from the hospital saying "Um, we double checked your x-rays and CAT scan and are going to need you to come back and be admitted. You have blood clots in your lungs" Never heard of a pulmonary embolism before that day. Know what they are now. Spent the next 5 days in the hospital with them thinning my blood so the clots would go away.
I am now post 1 year from my surgery and PE's. I have had a cortisone shot in my knee to help with my arthritis (that I didn't know I had until deciding to get healthy). I am finally ready to start again.
Wish me luck :)
